Learning Resource Centre, Severn Vale School, Gloucester
Value: £325,000

Brief: Yorke's brief was to construct a two-storey facility as the School's new learning resource centre, featuring extensive library facilities, a large I.T. suite, and social areas. The futuristic complex was designed in partnership with youngsters from the school council who helped the architects design the building and oversee the project through the planning process.

Delivery: The groundworks operation involved trench-fill footings to support a timber frame building which was adjoined to the existing gym. The timber walls carried a breathable membrane with a unique Trespa cladding, which required an exceptionally high finish and detailing around the windows. Occasional stone rendering panels were also used for an aesthetically-pleasing design.

The new centre has won wide acclaim for its contemporary look and resulted in Yorke Construction being nominated for Gloucestershire County Council's Considerate Contractor of the Year awards.

The project was completed four weeks ahead of schedule and under budget.
