Brief: The building in
Almondsbury, north of Bristol, was originally divided into two halves
with the Avon Ambulance 999 call centre on the top floor of one half
and the NHS Direct occupying the other two floors. The refurbishment
included installation of full mechanical services ventilation, Air
conditioning, Electrical services, data and communications, subdivision
of all floors to create internal offices, new toilets, kitchen and
canteen facilities.
Delivery: The project was
completed within the twelve week programme and during the refurbishment
phase, Air conditioning condenser units were craned into position along
with an emergency back up generator. The generator was then fully
commissioned and used whilst the electrical supplies to the two
buildings were linked together. Throughout the whole project the Avon
Ambulance 999 call centre and the qualified nursing staff for NHS
Direct were able to continue as normal maintaining an essential public
service.
